1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18)
A ball is out of bounds:
a) Beyond all boundary hedges and fences bounding the course.
b) In or over the ditch at the 9th and 13th holes.
c) Beyond any line of white stakes on the 8th and 11th holes.
d) Beyond the white stakes on the 18th hole.
2. Protection of young trees
Relief must be taken from young trees identified by stakes or white tags. If such a tree interferes with a player's stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted and dropped without penalty in accordance with Rule 16.1.
3. Immovable obstructions close to the putting green (e.g. fixed sprinkler heads)
Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1.
The player has an extra option to take relief when such immovable obstructions are on or close to the putting green and on the line of play, but this Local Rule only applies when both the ball and the obstruction are in part of the general area cut to fairway height or less:
Ball in General Area:
The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is:
- On the line of play, and is:
- On or within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
- Within two club-lengths of the ball.
But complete relief must be taken, which includes both physical and line of play interference.
Exception - No Relief If Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable.
There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable
4. Relief from seams of cut turf
If a player's ball lies in or touches a seam of cut turf or a seam interferes with the player's area of intended swing:
(a) Ball in General Area
The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.
(b) Ball on Putting Green.
The player may take relief under Rule 16.1d.
But interference does not exist if the seam only interferes with the player's stance. All seams within the area of cut turf are treated as the same seam in taking relief. This means that if a player has interference from any seam after dropping the ball, the player must proceed as required under Rule 14.3(c)2 even when the ball is still within one club-length of the reference point.
5. Paths and tractor tracks
Relief may be obtained from permanent man made paths and tractor tracks in accordance with Rule 16.1.
6. Immovable obstructions
Players may take relief in accordance with Rule 16.1 from:
a) Fencing defining pathways, except where it defines Out of Bounds.
b) Wood piles that provide dead wood habitat for invertebrates, fungi, and hibernating reptiles.
7. Newly planted heather
All areas of newly planted heather on holes 1, 2, 3, 16, 17 and 18 are No Play Zones and relief MUST be taken in accordance with Rule 16.1.
